Extra Claims
Drafting and addition of extra claims you need for your application that are not covered by the original flat-fee package you purchased.
“Claims” define what you seek to protect through a patent. They must be drafted very carefully because they are what ultimately determine the scope of protection the patent will give you. Each claim is the subject of an exchange with the USPTO, which ultimately rules on whether it is allowed or rejected. Therefore, the more claims there are, the more complex and costly the prosecution will be. If your invention consists of many different novel features and you are interested in protecting all of them, you will need numerous claims to do so.
This extra claims package only applies if you have already contracted a patent application with us and require additional claims for that existing application. In principle, you should only purchase this service if we have already told you that additional claims need to be included and specified what type. Use the quantity selector to choose how many additional claims you want to purchase. If you need more than one type of claim, you must add each type to the cart separately. Remember that adjustments up or down can always be made if necessary.

Claim Types
Independent claims (main claims): They are the broadest; they stand on their own and describe the invention in its broadest sense, including all the limitations that define the invention.
Dependent claims (sub-claims): They are more specific and narrow the scope of the claim on which they depend, adding further details (limitations).
Multiple dependent claims: They refer, in the alternative only, to two or more preceding claims, adding further limitations or details to them.
Extra Large Application
The USPTO charges an additional fee for extra-large applications. We include it here as an option for your convenience. If, after adding these claims, your application will have more than 20 total claims, 3 independent claims, or will include a multiple dependent claim, choose "Yes" in this option so that the corresponding fee is added. Otherwise, choose "No". Please note that this fee is charged for each claim added beyond this limit.
If you are not sure whether you need to pay this fee, or you still have funds available in your coverage or in your expense account that can cover this cost, choose "No" in this option. Remember that you can always purchase new expense packages to add to your account whenever you need them.
